Project Overview

Summary

Dimensional is a 3D ecommerce React website with a strong emphasis on the front end. According to Shopify, integrating 3D visuals has been correlated with heightened customer engagement and prolonged time spent on product pages*. We're bridging the gap between online and offline shopping, giving customers that tactile experience they crave, right from the comfort of their own homes.

Roles and Responsibilities

This was a collaborative group project for our finals in the bootcamp that we attended. I was in charge of integrating Web Gi and the Shopping Cart for this project. We decided to individually design a product page, so my main focus was on the headphones page. Please check it out!

Challenges and Solutions

One challenge that I would say is that despite what Lighthouse Labs said about not using unfamiliar libraries, we went ahead and used a fairly new one just because we thought it was cool. Web Gi is constantly getting updates and it’s currently still in beta as of this posting. It recently got a major update and we quickly found out that the limited external resources that we had were completely outdated. We remedied this by slowly dissecting the documentation and took what worked and separated what didn’t.

It was an extremely slow start and the only thing that stopped us from scrapping this project completely was the overwhelmingly positive mindsets that we had to motivate each other to push past the obstacles and bring our idea to life.
